T oday we descended from Jerusalem into the warmer Jordan Valley.
Bible Prophecy - 11 Prophecies of Jesus and the End Times
We began with a worship service beside the Jordan River , the very site where tradition says Jesus was baptized. Photo: Jordan River baptism site, where Jesus was baptized. N o matter how many times I come to the Holy City of Jerusalem, the first view never gets old. How great is that?
Fewer places give the sense of the time of Jesus like the Southern Steps excavations.
In fact, because it is forbidden to dig on the Temple Mount itself, this area immediately south of the mount offers important archaeology to help unpack the history of the Temple Mount during the first century. We sat on the foot wide flight of stairs that represent both original and restored steps from the Second Temple period—the time of Jesus.
But people on our tour were surprised to learn that the original city of Jerusalem lay just south of the Temple Mount on a small spur of land that encompassed about only ten acres. Photo: City of David at right, and Kidron Valley.

Crammed with houses and punctured with archaeological digs, the original area of Jerusalem looks much different today than it did three thousand years ago when King David conquered it. On our way north, we passed Tel Hazor and I thought of when Joshua conquered the city in his day. Our time in the Golan Heights included a visit to Caesarea Philippi.
Is Jesus Coming Back?
The site has been identified in Scripture with the names Baal-gad Joshua ; ; , Baal-hermon Judges , and Caesarea Philippi Matthew We also toured the amazing site of Tel Dan and saw the beautiful panorama of the Golan Heights. Read more about these sites below. T he picturesque view from the Mount of Beatitudes offers visitors more than simply something to see. Few Biblical studies are as exciting as an examination of the Jews in prophecy, for the Jews are one of the key focal points of Bible prophecy. They are pictured as the wayward wife of God see Ezekiel 16 and the book of Hosea.
The panorama of prophecy that relates to the Jews is breathtaking.

It applies to the past, the present, and the future. How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! See Isaiah ; Jeremiah ; Isaiah puts it in a colorful way. He says the Lord could no more forget Israel than a mother could forget her nursing child Isaiah He then adds that God cannot forget Israel because He has them tattooed on the palms of His hands!
Isaiah God has fulfilled all four of these prophecies during the past 2, years. In 70 A. As prophesied, everywhere they went they were persecuted, with their persecution culminating in the Nazi Holocaust of World War II. But God also preserved the Jews, and the fulfillment of this prophecy has been one of the most remarkable miracles of history.
No other people have ever been so dispersed and yet been able to retain their identity as a nation.
We are privileged to live in an age when God is fulfilling many promises to the Jews. What a testimony this is to the fact that God is alive and well, that God is on His throne and in control, and that God is faithful to His promises. This remarkable regathering of the Jews from the four corners of the earth has occurred in our life time.
Connecting the Bible and its Lands to Life
World War I prepared the land for the people as the control of Palestine was transferred from a nation that hated the Jews the Turks to a nation that was sympathetic to their return Britain. This occurred on May 14, see Isaiah ; Zechariah The good news is that the death of one has the capacity to save many.
The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate affirmation of life or in the words of the Byzantine liturgy:. Christ is risen from the dead! Dying, he conquered death; To the dead, he has given life no. Finally, because the message of both festivals is so central to the belief system of each faith community, it interlaces the liturgy year round. In the Haggadah we read that Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah was already advanced in years before he fathomed that the exodus from Egypt should be recalled by every Jew twice daily, in the evening as well as in the morning.
That is the reason for the addition at the third paragraph of the Shema [a prayer said twice daily] in which this bedrock fact is affirmed.

Still for all their commonalities, Passover and Easter diverge fundamentally. While both festivals are about delivery from a state of despair, be it slavery or sin, Passover heralds the birth of the Jewish people as a force for good in the comity of nations.
In contrast, Easter assures the individual Christian life eternal. Passover summons Jews collectively into the world to repair it; Easter proffers a way out of a world beyond repair. Passover reflects a worldview that devalues life after death and privileges the community over the individual. Easter bespeaks a religion that reverses both sets of priorities, enabling it to comfort those who had lost faith in the gods of Rome. It is well known that Passover is not the only Jewish new year, that in fact it came to share that role with Rosh Hashanah. Whereas our months are numbered from Nisan [when Passover falls], the years are counted from Tishrei [the month in which Rosh Hashanah falls].
The reason for that anomaly is the development of Rosh Hashanah , after the canonization of the Hebrew Bible, perhaps concomitantly with the emergence of Christianity, into a festival that addressed itself solely to the fate of the individual.
https://noroi-jusatsu.info/wp-content/2020-04-23/1035-localiser-un.php On the other three pilgrimage festivals, including Passover , the world is judged by God collectively. The expansion of the nameless first day of the seventh month, when loud blasts were to be sounded Leviticus and Numbers , into a solemn day of judgment for every single member of humanity suggests a Jewish response to a society with a heightened sense for the importance of the individual.
